Although rain obscured views on the 1300m ascent from Minapin village to Taghofari ablation valley (aka Rakaposhi base camp) there were plenty of opportunities to photograph the wildflowers carpeting the vast, steep meadow between Hapakun and the ridge where the Minapin Glacier and the ridge connecting Diran Peak with the Rakaposhi massif comes into view. The second day was clear for our traverse of the glacier to Kacheli meadow in the ablation valley on the opposite side, which serves as base camp for attempts on Diran Peak.
